  • CAVI Collection: Oxford 536.
  • CAVI Lemma: RF lekythos. From Gela. Aischines Painter. Second quarter fifth. Ca. 460-450.
  • CAVI Subject: Preparations for sacrifice: a woman with a phiale, a youth with meat on a spit and a sacrificial basket.
  • CAVI Inscriptions: Nonsense: to right of the woman's face: δ(ε)υ(.){1}. To right of the back of the youth's head: κκκκ{2}.
  • CAVI Footnotes: {1} the epsilon lacks the top horizontal, which makes it look like an upside-down digamma. Beazley in CVA has lambda for upsilon, I think wrongly. The last letter consists of the tops of two parallel verticals, which makes it impossible to read δευρο. {2} so CVA. I saw only three kappas in the photo. The second and third are lying sideways.
  • CAVI Comments: = G 300.
  • CAVI Number: 5920
