The Classical Art Research Centre Website Privacy Statement
Types of data we collect about you
Standard access to our databases is provided without requiring registration. However, if users require access to customised features such as storing photo albums, registration is required. For this, we collect:
- An email address and password, in order for the login to operate securely. While we do our best to protect your data and follow security best practices, no system can be completely secure and hackers may eventually find a way in to any system, so we recommend you use a different password for each system you store data on, so that if one is compromised, your data in other systems remains secure.
- An optional organisation name for anonymous statistical purposes to help with future funding applications.
We store logs of use of the database, such as search operations. We use this to help us understand how the database is used, to improve it and ensure it is secure. This processing occurs because it is necessary to meet our legitimate interests in operating and improving the database, analysing its use, and ensuring its security.

When you submit your email address to request to join one of our mailing lists, an email is sent to our list manager to add you to the mailing system. We use the mailing list to keep you informed about our events, announcements about CARC and the Gandhara Connections Project, other relevant announcements and information. You can unsubscribe at any time by sending an email to email@example.com.
Register of Ancient Greek Pottery Researchers
By registering on this list you agree to have your details publicly displayed and for CARC to retain them for administration of the register. To be removed from the register email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How we use your data
We process your data for purposes arising from your use of the website, for example, to ensure that we understand who uses our site and how our site is used and to improve our site and ensure it is secure. This processing occurs because it is necessary to meet our legitimate interests in operating and improving the website, analysing its use, and ensuring its security.
We use anonymous statistical data for the purpose of demonstrating to potential funders the use of the CARC and to justify historic funding.
We maintain facebook and twitter pages. We do not store any data on our own systems for this purpose. Use is controlled by your agreement direct with facebook and twitter for use of their systems. https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy https://twitter.com/en/privacy
