CAVI Lemma: Frs. of BF hydria. Archippe Group (related to Tyrrhenian Group){1}. Third
quarter sixth. Ca. 550 (Boardman).
CAVI Subject: Body: Heracles reclining to right; Athena seated to left; Iolaus standing to
left. On a separate fr., a figure with a staff, variously interpreted as a man
or a woman (see Wolf, p. 13 n. 45). Predella: animals (?).
CAVI Inscriptions: Body: to left of Athena, starting from her neck, in a slight curve:
Α(θ)εναια, retr. The theta lacks the dot. To left of Iolaus' face, curving
diagonally downward: Ιολεος, retr. Is there a trace of an inscription for
Heracles in the ph.? I do not know if the ph. is complete. The description in
Wolf, p. 13, seems to mention inscriptions only for Athena and Iolaus. Possibly
Αλ̣[κμενε](?).
CAVI Footnotes: {1} so Bea. Arch, by unknown.
CAVI Comments: This is presumably the same vase as Shapiro (1989), 160, pl. 72,a; Boardman
(1984), 22, fig. 1.
CAVI Number: 2075
