- CAVI Lemma: Fragmentary BG cup. From Athens. Unattributed. Late sixth or early fifth.
- CAVI Subject: Undecorated.
- CAVI Inscriptions: On the outside wall of the bowl, upside down, Gr. in a circle, facing out:
Μ̣[ενε]κρατες [κ]αλος και φιλος Λυσικλει̣. vac.{2}.
- CAVI Footnotes: {1} the fr. with -κρατες is misplaced. {2} mixed alphabet? Lang notes that
the Ionic lambdas in φιλος Λυσικλει suggest that the last three words were added
by a second hand. However, the style of lettering changes only in the last two
words; perhaps a different ending had been planned.
- CAVI Comments: The museum card suggests N[ικο]κρατες, a less common name.
- CAVI Number: 0578
- AVI Bibliography: Museum card. — Lang (1976), 12/C 7, pl. 4{1}.
- CAVI / AVI Data from Henry Immerwahr's Corpus of Attic Vase Inscriptions (CAVI), updated by Rudoph Wachter's Attic Vase Inscriptions (AVI)
