CAVI Lemma: Fr. of RF bell (?) krater. From Camiros. Unattributed. Second half fifth.
CAVI Subject: A: Calydonian Boar Hunt: two hunters; a tree; a boar charging; a third hunter
attacking; at right, a horse's muzzle, leg, and spear.
CAVI Inscriptions: A: to left of the tree, stoich. two-liner: γυγ... | κ(α)λ...{1}. Above the
boar, to left of the attacking hunter: (Γ)(ι)δυμος{2}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} Smith reads γυαισ | κ(α)λη and thinks it perhaps miswritten for η παις
καλη. I saw only the first three letters and say in my note: there may be more,
but the letters cannot be distinguished from tree leaves. I wonder if the eta is
right. {2} Smith prints (Δ)ιδυμος and queries it; the first letter is given as
an Attic gamma, which is correct. The iota has a small hook at bottom right. {3}
so Smith, probably correctly, although the delta is smeared.
CAVI Comments: Very sloppy writing with miswritten letters. Mixed alphabet? Attic except for
the eta as given by Smith in the first inscription (see below). Dotted delta{3}.
