Publication Record: Beazley, J.D., Paralipomena (Oxford, 1971): 359.9TER Braun, K. and Harvernick, E., Bemalte Keramik und Glas aus dem Kabirenheiligtum bei Theben (Berlin, 1981): PL.26.1
CAVI Lemma: Fr. of RF cup. From Thebes, Kabeirion. Onesimos. First quarter fifth.
CAVI Subject: A: upper part of a satyr.
CAVI Inscriptions: A: Εχ(.)[--] or εχ(.)[--]{1}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} Para. Εχ ... followed by a partial letter, which may be alpha or mu
(Beazley). K.-D. reads : Εχλ[--], but if the third letter is considered alpha or
mu by Beazley, this should be an Ionic lambda, which is unlikely.
CAVI Comments: It is unclear to me whether this is sense or nonsense; the latter is perhaps
unlikely as nonsense inscriptions are not common in Onesimos. K.-D. wonders
whether this is a satyr name or an exclamation.
