CAVI Subject: Int.: a woman dancing with castanettes. A: a javelin thrower between two
trainers. B: youth with his staff and whip, leading two horses. At the handles:
sphinxes.
CAVI Inscriptions: Int.: in a circle, starting to left of the woman's feet and ending to their
right: Ευεργιδες εποι[]{1}. A: at the level of the heads: ^hο ^ παι^ς ^
κα^λος^{2}. B: similar: Πλε^χσ^ιπ(π)ος{3}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} complete: εποι[εσεν] or εποι[ε]. Wrongly reported in JHS 33. The words
are very slightly separated. {2} the ff. are intervening: sphinx, head, head,
hand with flower, head, sphinx. {3} the youth's head and the right horse
intervene.
CAVI Comments: Thought lost until it appeared at Sotheby's (Sotheby (1920), pl. 2). An
incomplete signature also on Athens 1430, by the same painter: Ευεργιδες ε[],
ARV[2] 95/122.
