CAVI Lemma: WG oinochoe. From Locri Epizephyrii. Foundry Painter; Brygos Painter (D.
Williams){1}. First quarter fifth.
CAVI Subject: A woman spinning.
CAVI Inscriptions: To right of the distaff, in dark brown: hε παις καλε.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} Beazley attributed the pot to the Foundry Painter, but Williams to the
Brygos Painter, with Robertson concurring.
CAVI Comments: Williams connects the inscription with the woman (whom he considers a free
woman). He compares Cab. Méd., ARV[2] 624/81, q.v., with the inscription
φιλεργος [I think he takes this as an adj.; I take it as a name].
CAVI Number: 4400
