CAVI Lemma: BF lip cup. From Vulci. Unattributed (compare with Group of Vatican G 61){1}.
Third quarter sixth. 540-530.
CAVI Subject: [[Int.: concentric circles.]] Lip: A: two fawns. B: the like.
CAVI Inscriptions: A: χαιρε και πιει τενδε{2}. B: χαιρε και π(ι)ει τεν[δε]{3}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} so Para. {2} two dots placed horizontally near the top of the epsilon of
πιει on A are probably drips. {3} it is not clear from CVA whether the last two
letters are missing or were not written, in which case read τεν[δε]. The ph. in
Lissarrague seems to show that there is restoration at the end of the
inscription: τεν[δε].
CAVI Comments: See especially Vatican G 61, with parallels. The inscription on B is much
more hastily written. By the same hand as other vases of this
group?@@[[Diameter: 143.]]
CAVI Number: 2953
