Remarks: Floral revetment plaque. Flat fascia with red stripe across top with strigil tops projecting. Convex strigils with flat recessed band, W 2.5, between strigils. 2 nail holes, Diam 1.2. Thick roll with oblique painted bands. Diagonal bands on roll separated by ridge. Basic floral frieze design similar to S 1520 but smaller scale and bottom arcs and pendent buds. Above, half-lotus/ palmette with 11 leaves/ lotus/ palmette with 11 leaves/ half-lotus. Below, half pendent palmette/ pendent lotus/ pendent palmette/ pendent lotus/ half pendent palmette. All proveniences are unsubstantiated in Louvre, except for recent attributions to Tuscania.

Paint: Red stripe across top of flat fascia. Strigils alternating red and black with cream interstices. Diagonal bands on roll black, cream, red, cream. Cream slip. Brick red 10R 4/6: 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th strigil, central diagonal band, ground above lotus and behind horizontal spirals, lotus heart. Blue on palmette heart, hanging buds calyx, lotus calyx 5 BG 5/1. Brown ground behind palmette.
Condition: Completely preserved example except for chip from left hanging bud and left top edge.
