Publication Record: Simon, E. (ed.), Die Sammlung Kiseleff im Martin-Wagner-Museum der Stadt Würzburg II, Minoische und griechische Antiken (Würzburg, 1989): PL.75.174 Tsingarida, A. CAVI Lemma: RF pyxis with lid. Unattributed. Ca. 430-420 (Simon).
CAVI Subject: On the lid: the head of Pan.
CAVI Inscriptions: On the inside of the lid, Gr. (`tief eingegrabener graffito': no doubt before
firing): [text gives an Attic or Ionic gamma].
CAVI Comments: The inscription was no doubt used to match lid and pyxis; since the present
pyxis lacks the sign it is doubtful that they belong together. Simon gives much
bibl for this type of Gr.
