CAVI Lemma: WG lekythos. From Gela. Brygos Painter. Ca. 480-470 (CVA).
CAVI Subject: Aeneas leading Anchises (shield device: trumpeter).
CAVI Inscriptions: Nonsense: partly imitation letters: above Anchises' head: γν(.) v. (.)(.).
Below the shield: διν(.)α.
CAVI Comments: Ex Navarra collection. Fairbanks read traces of: Αινεας. Ανχισες. This must
be wrong. But the nonsense inscriptions `name' the two figures and perhaps
imitate the two names.
CAVI Number: 3768
