first(1): 1. Θυφειθιδες | εποιεσεν. 2. Θυφειθιδες | εποιεσεν.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} see AttScr (1990), 26, 37-38, 65.
CAVI Comments: Θυφειθιδες for Θοπειθιδες, i.e., Θεοπειθιδες, cf. Θουκυδιδες, Beazley;
Θουφειδιδες, CIG; Θευπειθιδες, Jahn; Τυφειδιδες from Τυφων and ειδος,
Kretschmer. LGPN ii does includes the name as Θυφειθιδης. Beazley is clearly
right. For upsilon = ou see Threatte (1980), 260-61 and AttScr (1990), 162.
Beazley in ABV states that the sigmas in one signature are four-stroke, but that
is not born out by the photos in JHS. Threatte (1980), 61 n. 1 points out that
Jeffery (1961), 74 n. 8 wrongly states that the signature is stoichedon.
