CAVI Subject: A: The Seven against Thebes: at left, a greave held by a lost figure; in the
middle, the upper part of an armed and bearded warrior, with traces of a chariot
to left(2); at right, a hand holding two spears.
CAVI Inscriptions: A: to left of the back of the central warrior's head: [Πολυ]νεικες{3}. To
right of the same warrior's face: Α[ν]φ^ια[ρεος]{4}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} compared to the Painter of the Oxford Brygos. {2} so Tiverios. {3} the nu
is not visible in the photo. {4} the spears intervene.
CAVI Comments: Polyneices is probably the figure holding the greave, while Amphiaraus is the
bearded warrior; but see the further discussion by Tiverios. Vasseur interpreted
the scene as bringing in the body of Polyneices.
