CAVI Lemma: Fragmentary RF squat lekythos. Manner of Meidias Painter. Last quarter fifth.
End of fifth (Baur).
CAVI Subject: Poseidon and Amymone: at left, Aphrodite seated in a rocky landscape; bushes,
a hare; legs of Amymone; Poseidon; Amphitrite.
CAVI Inscriptions: Above her head: [Αφ]ρο[διτη]{1}. Tn the same position: [Αμυ]μ̣ωνη. Above the
head and to right: Ποσειδω[ν]. In a similar position: Α[ν]φιτριτη{2}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} so CB; Baur has Αφ[ροδιτη]: who is right? Burke-Pollitt also print
Αφ[....]. {2} CB (but with mu): Baur's text has: φιτριτη, the dr. has a break
and a diagonal line (/) preceding φιτριτη. I wonder if the reading should be:
Α̣[ν]φιτριτη. Burke-Pollitt print: Αμ]φιτρτη - a misprint?
CAVI Comments: = 1913.152. Ionic alphabet.
CAVI Number: 8142
