- CAVI Collection: Basel Market (M.M.).
- CAVI Lemma: RF neck amphora. Painter of Paris Gigantomachy (?). Second quarter fifth.
- CAVI Subject: A: satyr with wineskin, pursuing maenad with snake. B: satyr to right,
surprised by a round object on the ground (rock?).
- CAVI Inscriptions: A: inscription EONOKLES. (Εονοκλες(?) (Οι)ονοκλες(?)){1}.
- CAVI Footnotes: {1} there is an inscription on the wineskin, lengthwise, in `Glanzzeit'; I
count 5 plus 3 letters, separated by the neck of the skin. They cannot be read
in this picture. Is this the Oionokles inscription? - E. Knauer is reported to
read Εονοκλ(ς) with reversed three-stroke sigma and identifies the name as
Oionokles.
- CAVI Comments: Serbeti does not attribute the vase to the Oionokles Painter, although there
are similarities. She also does not think this is Oionokles unless it is
misspelled. [I think this IS Oionokles miswritten.]
