CAVI Comments: Pöhlmann says the seated Muse holds a book roll(?) and beats time [with her
foot, which is slightly raised]. But what are the two sticks? One is thick, the
other thin. They do not look like a book roll. Could it be that the muse marks
time with a stylus and a closed book roll? The names are taken from ARV[2]. The
vase is cited by L.-H. for comparison with Sozopol 266, q.v. The Methyse Painter
was the most important teacher of the Eretria Painter.
