- CAVI Collection: Berlin 2658.
- CAVI Lemma: RF oinochoe (chous). From Vulci. Group of Boston 10.190 (Manner of Meidias
Painter). Last quarter fifth. 410-400.
- CAVI Subject: Komos of four boys (children).
- CAVI Inscriptions: Above the first boy: καλος. Above the second boy: Nεανιας. Above the third
boy: κ(α)(λ)ος{1}. Above the fourth boy (wo holds a torch and a jug): Παιαν.
Κωμος{2}.
- CAVI Footnotes: {1} alpha near 7 and an extra stroke next to lambda. {2} so Kron, who gives:
Παιαν, Nεανιας, καλος, Κωμος. Lissarrague reads differently: καλος νεανιας
(`handsome youth'); κομος as the title of the procession. παιαν, a hymn in honor
of the gods. But I think this is wrong: each figure is named, although the names
are allegorical.
- CAVI Comments: Inscriptions in white; small letters. Ionic alphabet. - Petrakos wrongly
identifies the Neanias on the vase with the Attic hero, for whom see S. Solders,
Die ausserstädtischen Kulte (1931) 96.
