CAVI Lemma: Fr. of large open bowl{1}. From Athens. Unattributed. Sixth.
CAVI Subject: Band of red glaze both inside and out.
CAVI Inscriptions: Outside: Grr.: along the upper edge: scratches and: Αργει[δες]. Along the
lower edge, upside down relative to the first inscription: [Αρ]γιδε[ς]{2}. In
the field: υσ, ε(ι), and a big Α followed by an incomplete line slanting
downward. Inside: Grr.: along the (curved) top edge: Αργιδες. Along the bottom
edge, upside down relative to the previous inscription: [--](.)εσον{3}. In the
center, many scratches, no doubt representing (illegible) letters.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} a piece of the original sherd is missing on one side. {2} so the dr. in
Lang (1976); Lang, however, copies the text of V.&S.: Αρ]γιδ[ε]ς. So also LGPN
ii. {3} so V.&S., suggesting [Μ]ν̣εσον or [Τ]λ̣εσον. Lang's dr. has [--]εσον,
her text, ].εσον.
CAVI Comments: Names-on-sherd. --](.)εσον is in a different hand. The writing of the first
name is very messy. Argeides is said to be unknown. Tailed rho.
