CAVI Lemma: Fr. of cup (BG?){1}. Unattributed; Painter N (?){2}. Nikosthenes, potter.
Last quarter sixth.
CAVI Subject: Int.: only BG is preserved. The fr. is basically a foot.
CAVI Inscriptions: On the reserved foot profile, in BG: Nικοσθενες εποιεσεν.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} somewhat akin to type A. {2} Blösch put it with a similar black cup,
Vatican G. 74, ABV 233/19, which has the same signature in the same location. In
Immerwahr (1984), 342, I suggest that the hand of the signature may be that of
Painter N.
CAVI Comments: Ex Richmond, Cook. Small letters, taking up only a small portion of the
circumference. The line is not straight, and the nu (once) is as broad as the
nu's of Painter N. A messy hand, written with an `uncleaned brush'.
CAVI Number: 4742
