Remarks: Hollow, handmade, over life-size torso of muscular male figure, with skin painted dark brown/black, finished lower edge cutting through upper legs & pubic area. On both sides, at bottom, triangular depressions (H 13, W at bottom 15, D 1). Below navel, non-penetrating hole (Diam 1.5) for metal attachment. Rectangular cutting in place of genitals (H 4.5). Figure was cut in half in leather-hard state and fired separately; legs now missing as well as metal belt that would have attached 2 pieces together at hip level. Th walls 2-3.5. 2 firing holes below armpits. Estimated H over 2 m., with right arm raised, left arm relaxed at side and drawn slightly back, left leg slightly more advanced than right. Probably reconstructable as standing nude Herakles with lion-skin drawn over flanks, brandishing club in right hand and holding bow in left. Late work of Vulca (Colonna)
