CAVI Collection: Tarquinia, Museo Nazionale RC 5292.
CAVI Lemma: RF cup. From Tarquinia. Pedieus Painter{1}. Last quarter sixth.
CAVI Subject: Int.: a nude young horseman with a spear. A-B: horse race of 15 nude youths.
CAVI Inscriptions: Int.: to right of the youth's back: Πεδιευς. Under the horse's legs (they
intervene), upside down: καλ^ο^ς. A: above the scene: Πεδιευς καλος. Below:
καλος. B: above: Πεδ[ιε]υς καλος{2}. Below: καλος.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} close to Skythes; perhaps late works of his (Beazley). {2} the facs. does
not indicate a gap, giving Πεδυς; there is no remark in the text either. The
facs. may be in error and the name may be complete.
CAVI Comments: Kirchner, PA 11747-48, thinks the kalos might be the archon of 449/8; he
dates the vases 500-480.
