  • CAVI Comments: Very good early lettering; the letters are small and neat. In JHS Beazley and Payne reject C. Smith's suggestion of reading Πσοιεας (or some such name) εποιησεν: the inscription toys with εποιεσεν. In ABV, Beazley cites the fr. in connection with the possible name [Ps]oleas, but points out the differences. I think this is a nonsense inscription pure and simple. Cf. Florence (JHS 49 [1929] 268).
