CAVI Lemma: Fr. of BF lip cup. From Naukratis. Unattributed. Third quarter sixth.
550-530.
CAVI Subject: Lip: young horseman.
CAVI Inscriptions: Handle zone: --?]πσοιεασε[--.
CAVI Comments: Very good early lettering; the letters are small and neat. In JHS Beazley and
Payne reject C. Smith's suggestion of reading Πσοιεας (or some such name)
εποιησεν: the inscription toys with εποιεσεν. In ABV, Beazley cites the fr. in
connection with the possible name [Ps]oleas, but points out the differences. I
think this is a nonsense inscription pure and simple. Cf. Florence (JHS 49
[1929] 268).
