  • CAVI Collection: St. Petersburg 809.
  • CAVI Lemma: RF stamnos. Kleophon Painter. 430-420.
  • CAVI Subject: A: A Warrior Leaving Home: an old man; a woman; a warrior; a woman. B: youths and a boy.
  • CAVI Inscriptions: A: between the heads of the old man and the woman at left: κα(.)α and a bit lower: οτ{1}. To left of the woman at right: κα[λ]ε{2}. Under the foot, Gr. ΤΡ, as on Munich 2415, plus a Π. See Johnston (1979), 102/16B 28 and 165/20F 9 (for the meaning of ΤΡ, see p. 231); Hackl (1909), no. 492.
  • CAVI Footnotes: {1} so the dr. in FR, which is no doubt unreliable; Munich 2415 has καλος. Or an illiterate attempt to reproduce the inscription? {2} so the dr.; this agrees with Munich 2415, which however has two more inscriptions. The facss. in KAV show the inscriptions somewhat differently but I do not know how reliable they are. A long Gr. line shown under the foot is probably correct. Matheson prints: A: καλε. καλε. καλε.
  • CAVI Comments: = St. 1428. According to FR, the vase is a replica of Munich 2415, ARV[2] 1142/2, by the same painter. Both vases and others by the Kleophon Painter, as well as from the Group of Polygnotos, have the ΤΡ mark.
