  • CAVI Subject: Shoulder: a satyr chorus: five white-haired satyrs seated with scepters and fancy clothes before the sphinx facing them on a rock.
  • CAVI Inscriptions: Shoulder: above the heads: between the first and second satyr: καλος{1}. Between the second and third satyr: καλος.
  • CAVI Footnotes: {1} the photo shows clearly only the last three letters but I assume the word is complete.
  • CAVI Comments: Loaned by Takuhiko Fujita of Tokyo. Aeschylus' satyr play Sphinx, part of the Theban trilogy, was performed in 467 B.C.
