  • CAVI Subject: Mistress and Maid: seated woman to right (her hands ready to receive the chest); woman with chest; stool; above seated woman's head at top: oinochoe hung up; behind standing woman's head, oinochoe hung up and a sash.
  • CAVI Inscriptions: Below the top, in the area between the women, horizontal stoich. left-aligned three-liner: Διφιλος | καλος | Μhελανοπ|ο [[Μh(ε)λ]]. ....... ..... . .......{1}.
  • CAVI Footnotes: {1} the final omicron is in line 2 and stoich. in relation with lines 1 and 3.
  • CAVI Comments: Second white used. Note the position of the final omicron, as in Athens 1922, Athens 13,750 and Stockholm G. 2107. See Unlocated (ex Collection Tyszkiewicz): this is undoubtedly the same vase, which appeared in the Vente Somzée of 1901. For the syllabic use of hε [[h(ε)]] see also Athens, N.M. 12,441. Threatte (1996), 39, 45, and 46, explains the use of eta for e differently. Ionic alphabet with omicron for omega.- Oakley reads: ΜΗΛΑNΟΠ; cf. p. 11. But the Ε is short; see LGPN ii.
