  • CAVI Subject: A: Heracles and Triton. B: Departure of a Warrior: a warrior with shield and lance places a flower on an altar; a woman faces him, holding a helmet and girdle.
  • CAVI Inscriptions: A: in large letters: above the scene, filling the space between the palmettes: Ονετοριδες καλος. To left of the scene: hερακλες. At right: χαιρε. Below the last: Τριτον. B: in large letters: at left: Φιλον καλος. Above the warrior: hιπ[π]ομεδον. Below the warrior's mouth, at some distance: ὄ̅ναχς (invocation). Along the woman's back: Πολυκαστε.
  • CAVI Comments: Is Hippomedon here the ruler of Mycenae, one of the Seven against Thebes? (He is praying.) Polycaste is apparently not known in this connection. Rho with extended vertical. Three-stroke sigmas of different shapes.
