roasted; above the altar, Nike flies to left, about to pour from an oinochoe
into the phiale; at right, Apollo with his lyre. B: man and youths at altar.
CAVI Inscriptions: The inscriptions in (faded) white. A: the bearded man: Διομεδες. Near the
youth: (Ι)ολεος{1}. Near the Nike: ΙΛΙ{2}. Near Apollo: Απολλον{3}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} the iota is a dot. {2} so the facs. in CVA; these should be remains of
the inscription Nικε. Matheson prints: Nι[κη]. {3} my correction of the facs. in
CVA: Απιιλον.
CAVI Comments: Beazley lists as `Once Gotha 51,' but Add.[2] without the `Once'. Listed in
AttScr as having a dotted delta. Matheson omits the inscription for Iolaus.
