CAVI Lemma: RF lekythos. From Athens. Unattributed. Ca. 450.
CAVI Subject: Youth leaning on his stick, between two pillars.
CAVI Inscriptions: On one pillar: Κ(α)(λ)ον{1}. On the other: κα(λ)ος.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} so Beazley who suggests Καλ[λ]ον, with a query ; but I wonder if this is
not miswritten for καλος. The sketches in Moore (1997), 261: on the left pillar:
καλον. On the right pillar: καλος. The ph. in Moore (1997) does not include the
pillars. I think the first inscription is no doubt καλο(ς) with the last letter
a poorly written sideways sigma (S S3 in the chart in AttScr). The inscriptions
are in BG.
CAVI Comments: A small vase. Mixed alphabet?
CAVI Number: 0352
