Last Recorded Collection: Fiesole, private, A. Costantini
Publication Record: Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum: FIESOLE, COLLEZIONE COSTANTINI 1, 21, PL.(2557) 45.1.3.5 View Whole CVA Plates Schefold, K., Jung, F., Die Sagen von den Argonauten, von Theben und Troia in der klassischen und hellenistischen Kunst (Munich, 1989): 256, FIG.230 (A)
CAVI Lemma: RF cup. Unattributed. Last quarter sixth.
CAVI Subject: Int.: discobolus; at right, pick axe; at left, on the ground, halteres. Ext.:
plain.
CAVI Inscriptions: Int.: to left and right of the youth's head, following the margins: καλος,
retr. and hο ^ παις{1}. Under the foot, Gr.: ligature of alpha and Attic
gamma(?).
CAVI Footnotes: {1} I am not certain that this reading, from the photo, is correct. Paribeni
says in the text: παις καλος.
CAVI Comments: The Gr. could also be a ligature of mu with alpha inserted. Not in Johnston
(1979). The two Fiesole cups must be from the same workshop.
CAVI Number: 3504
AVI Bibliography: E. Paribeni, CVA Fiesole 1, Italy 57 (1980), pl. 45,1,3,5; facs. of Gr., p.
