CAVI Lemma: RF cup. Unattributed. First quarter fifth.
CAVI Subject: Int.: youth running to an altar, with oinochoe and cup. A: Heracles and
Antaios. B: Theseus and Procrustes.
CAVI Inscriptions: Int.: Αθενοδοτος and καλος, retr. On the youth' cup, in BG: ο Δορι vac. A:
καλος Αθενοδοτος. B: καλος.
CAVI Comments: Probably the name of a hetaera (Δωρι'ς) rather than the vase painter Douris;
cf. AttScr (1990), 86. In ARV[1] the vase was attributed to Douris as an early
work. - For other vases with the inscription ο Δορι, see ARV[2], p. 1568:
Bowdoin 30.1 (ARV[2] 328/114) and Acr. 873 (25/3) [but the last does not have
this inscription, rather ο παι καλε]. See also AttScr. Delta not dotted.
