CAVI Lemma: Fr. of BF Panathenaic amphora (early). From Athens. Unattributed.
Echekleides, potter. Ca. mid-sixth.
CAVI Subject: Athena.
CAVI Inscriptions: ḥεχεκλε[ιδες ...
CAVI Comments: Graef–Langlotz read [καλο]ς̣? Εχεκλε[ς]. Beazley in ABV follows this,
thinking [καλο]ς (with sigma 2) probable, if Graef rightly saw a trace before
the name. Johnston, however, is no doubt right in assuming a potter's name. The
potter probably reappears on AttScr (1990), no. 955, but with initial ϝ instead
of heta.
