Capital of Lycia, in south-west Asia Minor (Turkey). Its culture was heavily hellenised and several of its buildings were designed and executed by Greek artists (for example, the so-called Nereid Mounument and Harpy Tomb, now in the British Museum), even during the period of its allegiance to the Persian Empire in the 5th and 4th centuries BC.
