A Greek sculptor and architect active about 370-330 BC. His work is often reckoned (perhaps wrongly) to display a new intensity in expression, such as was to be further developed in the Hellenistic period, and a break from classical calm. He was architect (and sculptor?) for the temple of Athena at Tegea.
