A Greek sculptor active about 450-420 BC. He made a portrait of Perikles for the Acropolis at Athens, copies of whose head are known, and was alleged to have taken part in the competition for a statue of a wounded Amazon. Though Cretan by birth his work was clearly in the new Athenian classical style.
