A 2nd-century BC sculptor of Messenia (S. Greece) who made the major sculptural group for the sanctuary of Despoina at Lycosura, and was called upon to repair Phidias' cult statue of Zeus at Olympia. Apparently a very classicizing artist, reacting against the more extravagant Hellenistic styles.
