Fragmentary cup

A fragmentary cup in the Vatican Museum and drawing from the cup by Sir John Beazley.

In the older black-figure technique, illustrated here, both the outline and inner detail are normally, as in this case, clearly visible, strictly rendering the drawings unnecessary.
