This database is derived from the renowned French archaeologist, Jean Marcadé's, corpus of Greek 'signatures' on ancient sculptures: Recueil des signatures de sculpteurs grecs (Paris: De Boccard, 1953-1957). The digitized version was updated by Professor Guy Donnay of the Université Libre de Bruxelles and includes nearly 2,800 records.
In its present form, this is a legacy-database from a collaboration with the ULB in 2004. We hope to refine it, improving searchability and the accessibility of the data, in the near future. The textual content is in French. Depending on your browser settings you may experience problems with French accents or with Greek text transliterated into Latin letters (or vice versa).
Use the Search to search simultaneously across up to 26 different fields. However, note that not all fields are fully or consistently employed at present.
