CAVI Lemma: RF plastic rhyton (sphinx). From Capua. Tarquinia Painter. Second quarter
fifth.
CAVI Subject: Eos and Tithonos (a boy with a lyre); Eos{1}.
CAVI Inscriptions: To the boy's upper right: hο παις καλος, hο παις{2}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} two winged females are pursuing a boy (Tithonos or another); Williams
wonders whether the second female could be Eos' sister Selene. {2} so CVA, text;
unclear whether this is all in one line. [Actually, the photos. show that there
are three inscriptions: 1. above and to right of the left female; 2. to right of
the right female; 3. to right of the back of the boy's head (he looks back). All
very roughly horizontal. But I do not have the readings.]
