  • CAVI Comments: Once in Athens, Fauvel's house. κατάξι is Böckh's emendation of κατάξει. Leake has κατάξηι, but wrongly νωχον for δῶρον. For ἀποτεισε (ε for ει), see Threatte (1980), 300/10. For the last word, Leake has Ξευχ without the final upsilon; EV accepts Böckh's Ξενύλ[ο]υ, but should this not have double lambda? LGPN ii lists Ξενυλος (from this vase) with one lambda as distinct from Ξενυλλος. E.V. gives four parallels for kylix = skyphos: see Oxford 1956.311; skyphos base from Kea, Hesp. 33 (1964) 333-334. Two other skyphoi are not listed as Attic (thought they may be): Zürich inv. 2531, and one found at the Cimmerian Bosporus (see EV, p. 189). Ionic alphabet.
  • CAVI Number: 4841
  • AVI Bibliography: Leake's ms. notes in Cambridge. — CIG 1 (1828), 545. — Ussing (1844), 8 and 1412. — Jahn (1854), p.xcviii. — Rolfe (1891), 96-97. — Vanderpool (1967), 187-89, pl. 55, top. — D. Williams (1996), 231 (mention, for the price).
  • CAVI / AVI Data from Henry Immerwahr's Corpus of Attic Vase Inscriptions (CAVI), updated by Rudoph Wachter's Attic Vase Inscriptions (AVI)
