CAVI Subject: Heracles and the Centaurs: A: Heracles and Pholos; another centaur has fallen
between them; at right, the pithos with a kantharos on its rim. B: two centaurs
coming to the rescue, a third fleeing.
CAVI Inscriptions: A: under Heracles' left arm: (Φ)ολος{2}. Behind Heracles, above the pithos:
κενταορο(ς), the last three letters retr., for κενταυρος{3}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} but see Haspels 61 for comparisons. {2} CVA prints the phi = koppa, but
the photo in the Rouen cat. shows a circle with a vertical at the left side. {3}
the final sigma lies sideways.
