CAVI Lemma: RF hydria. From Vulci. Akin to Clio Painter. Third quarter fifth.
CAVI Subject: Gynaikonites: closed door; woman with a box grabs the door knob while looking
back; female flautist; mistress seated; taenia.
CAVI Inscriptions: Above the heads of the three women: (Μ)ΑΣΟΣ καλος{1}. Above the seated woman:
[κ]αλε.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} the first letter hasty, may be nu or mu (Furtw.).
CAVI Comments: The inscription is unclear. Is (μ)ασος a miswritten name? Beazley does not
mention a kalos-inscription. - Furtw. prints two signs as being on the chest (in
red on the black chest); the second is = dotted theta, but I think it is a lock.
