Athena. B: athletes: a trainer; two acontists; a flautist; a trainer; a jumper.
At the handles: grape vines.
CAVI Inscriptions: A: to left of Achilles' back, facing him: καλος hο π[α]ις, retr. To Achilles'
right, facing him: Αχι^λ[λ]ευ^ς{1}. To right of Ajax' face: Αιας, retr. Starting
above his head and curving down to his right (to Athena's right): Αθε^ναας{2}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} two spears intervene. {2} the palm tree intervenes.
CAVI Comments: Ex Arlesheim, Schweizer. The foot is modern. Neat lettering. Done mainly from
the facss. in CVA. The surface of the vase is full of black specks so that the
inscriptions are hard to recognize in the photos.; they are almost invisible in
CVA.
