  • CAVI Collection: London E 767.
  • CAVI Lemma: RF psykter. From Vulci. Dikaios Painter. Last quarter sixth. 510-500.
  • CAVI Subject: Komos: A: two bald-headed revelers preceded by a boy; the leader plays the lyre. B: two bearded revelers, one playing the flutes.
  • CAVI Inscriptions: A: the leader: Κυδιας. χαιρε. χαιρε. B: near the flautist: καρτα. By the leader: Δικαιος. [--]χαρχον. The pertinence of the names to the different figures is not clear.
  • CAVI Comments: A: Kydias is the musician from Hermione, cf. Pl. Charm. 115D. I do not take the χαιρε's with this name. B: [Nι]χαρχων καρτα δικαιος, CVA. But as Pottier points out in CVA the name Δικαιος appears with καλος on Louvre G 45 by the same painter. In AttScr I suggest that the final letter in [--]χαρχον may be a sigma lying sideways, whence Nικαρχος is a possibility (cf. PA 10,718 ff.; LGPN ii). Nikarchos is unknown, but is accepted in LGPN ii.
