Decoration: A: DIONYSOS WITH DRINKING HORN AND VINE, BETWEEN SATYRS, BETWEEN SIRENS B: SATYR WITH BASKET AND MAENAD, BETWEEN SIRENS I: MAENAD WITH KROTALA
Last Recorded Collection: London, British Museum: E14
CAVI Lemma: RF cup. From Vulci. Nikosthenes Painter{1}. Last quarter sixth.
CAVI Subject: Int.: a maenad dancing. Ext.: between sirens: A: Dionysus between two satyrs.
B: satyr and maenad.
CAVI Inscriptions: Int.: nonsense: at left, facing out: νοσενοσε. At right, facing out: ποσενοσ.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} "Very hasty, but I think by the painter himself," Beazley.
CAVI Comments: The foot is not preserved. I noted that the letters (on the Int.) are rather
neat [i.e., compared to London E 11, q.v., and other parallels]. But Beazley,
ARV[2] 130 speaks of `litter of letters,' as on London E 11 and E 815. I have no
note on the Ext.
