CAVI Lemma: RF Nolan amphora Related to Charmides Painter{1}. Second quarter fifth.
CAVI Subject: A: a warrior with shield and spear and a loin cloth. B: a warrior.
CAVI Inscriptions: A: to right of the warrior's forehead, above the shield: Τιμ(ο)χσεν(ο)ς{2}.
Below the shield: κ(α)λος. B: καλος{3}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} may be by the painter himself (Beazley). {2} Beazley reads Τιμαχσενος,
CVA the same, but with alpha lacking the cross stroke. The photo in CVA shows a
filled triangle, which could be intended for omicron, cf. the Oionokles Painter
who regularly writes triangular omicrons. The second omicron is also a (small)
triangular blob. {3} I think this is understood in CVA.
