CAVI Lemma: Frs. of BF pyxis lid. From Athens. Unattributed. Third quarter sixth.
CAVI Subject: Subject unclear: see Graef–Langlotz. Fr. c: garment at left; at right, part
of a figure clad in animal skin{1}.
CAVI Inscriptions: Between the figures, facing the left figure: hερ[ακλες](?){2}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} Bea. Arch. gives: youth, figure with double axe, Hermes, Heracles
(named?) (Birth of Athena?). {2} Graef–Langlotz's restoration, because of the
animal skin at right; but the inscription does not face that figure; also,
Graef–Langlotz thinks the subject of the vase may be Birth of Athena; hence
perhaps rather hερ[α]?
CAVI Comments: Frs. a - d.
