CAVI Lemma: Fragmentary RF cup. From Italy. Unattributed{1}; Painter of Naples Hydriskai
(Lezzi-Hafter). Early Classic (Beazley). 440-435 (Lezzi-Hafter).
CAVI Subject: Komos: Int.: a man with a torch, and a youth(?). A: lower parts of three
komasts and a woman playing the flutes. B: three komasts; at right, a boy
playing the flutes.
CAVI Inscriptions: Int.: along the right margin: Τιμοδη̣[μος]{2}. B: along the top margin:
Αντ[ιλ]οχος{3}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} the palmettes resemble those on cups by the Calliope Painter, but the
figure work differs (Beazley). {2} restored in L.-H., p. 156; assumed to be a
label and not a kalos-name. Beazley in ARV[2] says that this is not the same
person as Timodemos kalos. {3} so L.-H. RS 461 gives the beginning of the name
(Giroux apud Add.[2]). This item is not in LGPN ii's entry for Antilochos.
CAVI Comments: + Louvre RS 461 (ex Quebec, Laval University) (joins).
CAVI Number: 6637
