CAVI Footnotes: {1} Cahn prints: ΣΑΚΩNΟΣ/Κ/ΔΠ/ΤΡΙ with Attic pi. Johnston shows that the
kappa is in ligature with something; for various interpretations see Johnston
(1979), 201.
CAVI Comments: Johnston: Sakon is uncommon and largely confined to the West (he may be a
Sicilian even if, as J. thinks, the Gr. was cut in Athens [this is very
speculative]); see Johnston (1979), 201 and 242/11C n. 2. But J. also compares
the Attic potter Sakonides. LGPN ii lists the name as probably connected with
Athens. The kappa ligature may perhaps be a vase name (J. suggests ΛΑΚ[υθοι]).
The rest is 15 τρι[δραχμοι], i.e. a price. Odd that the four items are shown as
very far apart in the facs. The alphabet of the name is Ionic.
