  • CAVI Comments: Done from AttScr and Matheson. I consider Oinothrophos a satyr name, but K.-D. has it as the name of a maenad, referring to RE, s.v. Oinotropoi, females given the power by Dionysus to transform everything into wine (see Pape, s.v.). However G. Neumann apud K.-D. translates Oinotrophos `Wein bauend,' rightly. The word appears here with assimilation.
